Policy
Beyond our field and lab-based research, the Koltz lab is committed to promoting the use of scientific evidence in policy, decision-making, and diplomacy. We are broadly interested biodiversity, environment, and climate policy issues and have experience in these areas at the international, national and state levels.
Currently, Amanda is contributing to the Nexus thematic assessment of the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health with the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
She is also a Science & Technology Policy (STeP) Fellow with the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI). This program includes professional development and leadership training in Science Diplomacy and opportunities to collaborate with trans-national and multi-disciplinary colleagues on global change challenges which are shared across borders and that can be mitigated with diplomatic efforts.
Prior to joining the faculty at UT Austin, Amanda was a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow in the Biological Diversity and Terrestrial Ecology Programs at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC and an Interim Program Officer with the Washington State Academy of Sciences.
